Video: Message from Carl Sagan

(The following text is based on the post by Dulcidio Caldeira, from last Monday, May 8 at LinkedIn)

In 1985, astronomer, scientist and activist Carl Sagan said that just one degree of temperature increase would have serious consequences for the world in the middle of the 21st century.

And that the prevention of global warming was urgent.

Today, it's an emergency. Two months ago we saw 600mm of rain fall in just one day here on the North coast of São Paulo (Brazil). At the same time the West coast of the US was hit by the heaviest snowfall ever recorded in the region.

This video is a very special project for the Boiler Filmes team: it rescues Carl Sagan's messages for today.

According to Dulcidio's post, the video "Was made in four hands with Almap. The rights to use Sagan's lectures were personally given by Ann Druyan – director and co-writer of the series Cosmos and widow of the scientist. The campaign is signed by the United Nations Global Compact – an entity that already brings together more than 20,000 large companies from 164 countries with the objective of seeking solutions for a better and sustainable World. Companies that have already realized that, among all the problems on the planet, there is one that cannot be postponed: drastically reducing carbon emissions by 2030. If you are a large company and want to participate, look for the United Nations Global Compact in Brazil. The planet cannot wait any longer."
